Green Running:

Last month my running club (Bad Boy Running Club) lent its support to a running community called the Green Runners and gave all its members the opportunity to take up a free year’s membership in exchange for four small pledges, which will help make the world a bit greener.

Set up as a group in 2021, with founding members including Damian Hall, Jasmin Paris and Dan Lawson, The Green Runners aim to raise environmental awareness amongst runners and ask them to do their bit by pledging to change one small thing about the way they move, kit up, eat and speak out.

If I’m honest, traditionally, my ‘green credentials’ have never been the most impressive. So, I investigated this more to see what I could change and sustain.

Along with reading all the information on their website, I read ‘We can’t run away from this‘ by Damian Hall. It’s thought-provoking and, indeed, not a comfortable read.

Please take some time out to read it. Then, let’s see if we can’t all make changes. Together we can make a real difference.

You don’t need to be perfect; just keep improving by putting the planet first when making decisions.

There are four key pillars to being a Green Runner:

  • How YOU Move
  • How YOU Kit-up
  • How YOU Eat
  • How YOU Speak Out

As individuals, we can each change our own approach and have a small impact. However, as a wider community, we can bring about a much greater change if we use our voices as one.

I’ve just joined The Green Runners and made my pledge for 2023. So, check out The Green Runners, join our community and make your pledges!
