Runs ‘n’ Roses:

Runs ‘n’ Roses is a 7hr Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a full lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you want to within the 7hr time limit.

This event was in my marathon plan to get me close to 20 miles as part of my preparation for Edinburgh in May.

However, some days things just click and there it was, I completed my first marathon!

Completing a marathon was one of my goals for 2023 and it was all about Edinburgh. But now I can go there with the pressure off and just enjoy it and maybe improve on my time.

Super chuffed, I never thought I’d serious get close to completing a marathon. I even had enough energy left for the obligatory Bad Boy Press-ups after crossing the finish line.

Out of 251 runners, 33 runners completed a marathon or greater and only 10 runners ran further than a marathon.

I was 5th overall out of 33 runners in my age group (VM 50-59).

I actually did 10 but caught out my partner (apparently I should have warned her)

Chip time: 5hrs 44mins 51 secs

Placing: 32 (out of 251)
